We shall now return to the Gospel, which affords us more than one means, one counsel and assistance, in opposition to sin; for God is superabundantly rich in his grace and favors:– First, through the oral word, in which is preached remission of sins in all the world, and this is properly the office of the Gospel; secondly, through Baptism; thirdly, through the holy Sacrament of the Altar; fourthly, through the power of the keys, and also through the mutual conference and admonition of brethren, Matt. 18, 20: "Where two or three are gathered," &c.
